About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Pharmacy Technician with an interest in Surgery for the opening of our new Elective Surgical Hub.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Pharmacist to provide a comprehensive ward based clinical service and the opportunity to undertake and utilise the fully funded Level 4 Clinical Diploma if not already attained, for increased clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The role will include taking medicines histories and completing medicines reconciliation, carrying out therapeutic drug monitoring, making therapeutic interventions within scope of practice, supply of medicines, final checking of medicines and counselling patients. In addition management responsibilities will include line management of junior staff, assisting with the day to day running of the service and monitoring performance, of the service.

The role will also involve making continuous improvements to the service using innovative techniques to develop the technician role and integrating completely in the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications Essential

NVQ3 Pharmacy Technician/Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician Accuracy Checking Technician Qualification Achieved Accredited MM/Medicines Optimisation qualification or willingness to complete if not already achieved Level 4 Clinical Diploma or willingness to complete if not already achieved

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential

Communicate effectively to all levels of staff IT Literate in routine Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc) Extensive knowledge of clinical pharmacy and ward-based working High degree of self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative Ability to present information concisely and clearly Ability to problem solve within scope of practice Ability to communicate with senior decision makers Knowledge and understanding of basic management principles including team management and motivation Knowledge and skills to mentor and develop staff

Experience Essential

Able to demonstrate relevant post registration knowledge, skills and experience Writing SOPs Development of consistent service through KPI and intervention reporting across PCN's
