Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT) for two Biomedical Scientists to join our Blood Sciences Department. We are looking for one enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to work on rotation through our Clinical Chemistry section, and another for Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections, with the opportunity to cross train in other disciplines; Haematology, Blood transfusion, Clinical Chemistry and Immunology, to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients.
The successful candidate will have:
HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist A good understanding of a Blood Sciences Department Troubleshooting and problem solving skills Excellent communication skills Willingness to learn and develop new skills

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and to develop and maintain competency in all sections of the Blood Sciences Laboratory as required: Clinical Chemistry,Anticoagulation, Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Immunology.
A 24/7 service is provided for Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Therefore the post holder will be expected to fully participate in the extended core hours and shift system once competent.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Essential
Degree or equivalent, accredited by the IBMS for the purpose of HCPC registration HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
Desirable
Evidence of current Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of people Excellent time management and organisational skills Good scientific and technical skills Good level of computer literacy
Experience Essential
Previous experience of working in an NHS laboratory as registered BMS
