We are looking to recruit a qualified hospital based play worker
The post holder will be responsible for promoting play activities and creating a positive, welcoming environment for children of all ages.
The post holder will utilise a variety of skills and knowledge acquired through experience to provide emotional support for children undergoing a variety of procedures.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly across 7 days
Main duties of the job
To maintain a safe, child-focused environment where play occurs naturally.
To provide play for normalisation for children attending hospital as both in or out patients.
To document play interventions.
To use knowledge of child development when selecting play activities.

Job description Job responsibilities
1. To organise and supervise play activities for individual and groups of children and young people in hospital according to their individual needs and as part of the overall plan.
2. To plan a programme of daily play activities for the playroom.
3. To establish effective communication both verbal and written with children / families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
4. To provide play based observations to support the overall assessment of the child.
5. To ensure that up-to-date written records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust Standards.
6. To respect the individuality, values, cultures and religious diversity of children, carers and families and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
7. To review and reflect on own practice and performance through the effective use of clinical supervision and appraisal.
8. To participate in the delivery of the play service development play.
9. To comply with Trust Policies and Procedures.
