Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Ward Manager to lead the Inpatient Surgical Ward at The Princess Grace Hospital. This busy and diverse unit delivers highquality care across a range of surgical specialities including Urology, Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary, Gynaecology and Colorectal surgery.
The Ward Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping patient experience and outcomes through strong clinical leadership and effective operational management. You will provide visible, professional leadership to the ward team, acting as a clinical expert, mentor and role model, while fostering a culture of safety, learning and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of nursing care are delivered, with oversight of clinical competence, quality assurance and evidencebased practice. The role includes responsibility for the daytoday management of the ward, workforce planning and budgetary control, ensuring services run efficiently while meeting patient and organisational needs.
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior leaders, you will contribute to service development, promote the ward within The Princess Grace Hospital and HCA UK, and participate in relevant forums to drive innovation and improvement.
Main duties of the job
The Ward Manager is responsible for providing strong clinical and professional leadership to the Inpatient Surgical Ward, ensuring the delivery of highquality, safe and patientcentred care across a range of surgical specialities including Urology, Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary, Gynaecology and Colorectal surgery.
The post holder will manage the daytoday operational running of the ward, including workforce planning, staffing, and budgetary control, ensuring effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of care. You will lead, support and develop the nursing team, acting as a visible role model and ensuring staff are appropriately trained, competent and supported in their roles.
The Ward Manager will monitor and maintain clinical standards through audit, quality assurance and implementation of evidencebased practice, promoting a culture of safety, learning and continuous improvement. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior leaders to deliver service objectives, improve patient experience and support service development.
You will also actively promote the ward within The Princess Grace Hospital and HCA UK, contributing to relevant forums and initiatives to support innovation, quality improvement and organisational priorities.

The Ward Manager is the senior clinical leader for their ward, accountable for the delivery of safe, highquality, personcentred care and for providing professional and operational leadership to the nursing team. The post holder will act as an expert practitioner, role model and visible leader, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes, staff experience and service performance.
