GI Medicine at MFT is undergoing one of the most significant periods of investment and transformation in its history. Backed by sustained funding, we are expanding our gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy services with a substantial increase in substantive clinical, nursing, allied health and administrative roles. This investment is focused on building a stable, future-proof workforce, reducing reliance on insourcing, and creating roles that are properly supported, well-resourced and designed for the long term.
The post holder will provide a specialist service to advice and promote evidence-based practice in the care of all patients with complex nutritional needs and/or requiring nutrition support.
GI Medicine operates as a managed single service MSS across North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH), Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital (TGH). All roles will be expected to work across sites as part of a collaborative, cross-site working ethos that promotes shared learning, consistency of care and flexibility within job planning.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work independently and within a nutrition support team to provide/facilitate effective and evidence-based clinical nutrition advice and support.
The post holder is expected to motivate staff to provide high standards of evidenced based clinical nutritional care by acting as a professional role model, provide expert professional clinical advice with regards nutritional care and nutrition support to colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team as well as patients and their carers/family members.
The post holder will be responsible for providing and supporting specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups, in conjunction with nutrition nurse colleagues who are based at other sites across the trust.
