About this role

Job summary We are delighted to offer a substantive Band 5 Staff Nurse opportunity within our Interventional Radiology service, working 23 hours per week across three days. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, dynamic and friendly team who take pride in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who is keen to develop new skills in a specialist clinical area. You will be well supported through a structured induction and ongoing training, with encouragement to grow in confidence and competence within this exciting and evolving service

Main duties of the job

Main duties and Responsibilities

Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and work within the limits of competence as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Scope of Professional Practice. To maintain Health & Safety of patients and colleagues at all times by complying with all relevant Trust policies To have knowledge of and to adhere to lionising Radiation Regulations To attend Trust mandatory, in-service and staff development training sessions Ensure that Trust procedures, guidelines and policies for Infection Prevention are adhered to Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care without direct supervision To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team leading/liaising/communicating as necessary and supporting junior staff Preparation of rooms/trolleys/equipment prior to procedures Preparation of patients prior to procedures Maintain a high standard of nursing care by acting as a professional role model to others To assist Radiologists with any process or procedure necessary for examination, investigation and treatment of patients To plan, deliver and evaluate pre, peri and post interventional care to Radiology patients and liaise with other disciplines and departments over that care To ensure the custody and administration of drugs and therapeutic substances in accordance with Trust and department policies

Administer drugs and other treatment and record as appropriate To liaise with staff and wards/departments regarding patients needs prior and post procedure To complete any documentation of an immediate and essential nature To maintain good working relationships and achieve effective co-ordination with the departmental medical, nursing, radiographic, clerical, portering and domestic staff To actively promote and implement research based practice To participate in audits as required Demonstrate evidence of current professional knowledge through the application of theory / research to patient care To be responsible for personal professional development and to meet the requirements for prep. To maintain the standard set by Nursing and Midwifery Council for continued effective registration through professional updating demonstrated by keeping a personal professional profile To undertake training in expanded nursing duties as appropriate To provide teaching for Nursing Students and Radiography Students To participate in the PDP system(Personal Development Plan) To provide effective communication both written and verbal To attend staff meetings To carry out any other duties as required to achieve the overall purpose of this post Please see the Job description for the detailed description of roles and responsibilities

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications Essential

Registered nurse

Desirable

Supervisor and Assessor Training Management/team leading qualification Leadership (LEO) course or equivalent Radiology Nursing or Radiology experience

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Ability to lead and work effectively within a team Good interpersonal skills which nurture effective working relationships with staff Ability to role model good practice and appropriately challenge poor practice Accurate document presentation and attention to detail
