Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Night Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton.

HMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison since April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.

3 x 12 hour shifts per week

£37,296 - £45,331

Main duties of the job

As a Night Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model Be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. You will occasionally be required to support dispensing Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach. Registered nurse with current NMC registration. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD). RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake. Experience of working with opiate dependant patients. Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge. A non-judgmental and compassionate approach. Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
