About the role
We are a busy cafe on Lawrence Ave E in Scarborough, Ontario (near Birchmount Rd), and we are looking for an experienced cook to join our kitchen team. Full-time and part-time positions are available. This role is for someone who already has hands-on kitchen experience and can keep food quality high during a rush.
What you will do
- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and cafe menu items (sandwiches, wraps, eggs, salads, soups and light meals) following our recipes and portion standards
- Prep ingredients before service, and label, date and rotate stock
- Keep food quality and presentation consistent, especially during busy periods
- Work closely with the front counter to keep orders accurate and moving
- Keep your station, equipment and storage areas clean and organized
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Help with opening and closing duties as scheduled
What we are looking for
- At least 1 year of experience as a cook in a cafe, restaurant or similar kitchen (required)
- Availability to work weekends and evenings (required)
- Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to the cafe for every scheduled shift (required)
- Solid knife skills and comfort using a grill, flat-top and oven
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
- Ability to stay calm, quick and organized in a fast-paced kitchen
- Punctual, dependable and a good team player
