The successful candidate should also be able to assist the department and other consultant colleagues in managing Ambulatory Gynaecology cases and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will also have a commitment to general obstetrics and gynaecology.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to support the cancer, acute gynaecology and general gynaecology service. Skills with procedures such as outpatient hysteroscopy, scanning, urogynaecology and inpatient gynaecological procedures will complement the services within the department.

The post holder will need to show greater interest in clinical governance and willing to lead on changes required to deliver highest standards of gynaecology services

Medical education and training of junior doctors in training is core requirement of this consultant appointment to ensure delivery of safe services and post holder must be willing to train junior doctors in intermediate and advanced training during working hours as well as out of hours.

Senior consultants are accessible for support and this is encouraged.

Labour ward work, management of high-risk pregnancies and complex obstetrics theatre lists during on calls is pivotal to services at DGH level, and the post holder is expected to contribute to safe gynaecological services in line with the nationally initiated transformation. Contribution to care of both inpatient and outpatient service is required. Willingness to work flexibly and to adapt to the changing needs of the service.
