Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Inpatient Pathway team at Solihull Hospital (CDG 6b) as an Administrator supporting the Inpatient Pathway, including Pre-Operative Assessment, Theatres and EPOC (Enhanced Perioperative Care). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team and making a positive difference to patient care through excellent administration.

You will support the day-to-day coordination of inpatient services, working both independently and collaboratively alongside colleagues across the Pre-Op, EPOC and Theatre teams. Your contribution will help ensure services run smoothly for both patients and staff. This includes the daily operations of the inpatient pathway team, supporting with incoming correspondence from stakeholders including specialties and the booking teams.

There are opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the wider inpatient pathway. This includes providing cross-cover within the team, as well as supporting the operational team with audits, report writing and minute taking. This will help to build a broader understanding of the patient pathway.

We are looking for someone who is approachable and proactive, with experience in an administrative role or a willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity to build new skills and be part of a team striving for continuous improvement to the service.

Main duties of the job

This is a part time role covered over 20 hours, 3 to 4 days (weekdays) per week. Please contact the hiring manager to discuss options.

Main Duties and Tasks:

* To undertake where required typing which may include touch type from audio and/or copy type from written documentation which may include letters, emails, reports and any other correspondence as required

* Liaise with staff and service users and external agencies to provide a point of contact for service users

* Create documents / spreadsheets / reports as required using IT Systems

* Use Trust systems to input electronic data as required

* To exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience when dealing with enquiries

* Receiving and dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate

* To maintain diaries as required

* Input and look up data on Trust IT systems in accordance with Trust policy

* Analyse and extract complex data sets from a number of different sources

* Arrange meetings and appointments as necessary

* To assist colleagues as directed by the Supervisor/Line Manager in times of pressure of work

* Co-operate in the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the department

* Photocopying, Scanning and filing letters and documents as required

Qualifications Essential

* Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4 * Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment

Experience Essential

* Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience * Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word,Excel and Outlook) * Experience of using IT systems

Desirable

* Experience of working in a busy environment * Experience of working in Healthcare
