About this role

Job summary

Are you a dedicated midwife with a passion for delivering high-quality inpatient maternity care?

With the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) now open, we are looking for enthusiastic and experienced midwives to join our inpatient maternity teams.

At SWB, we pride ourselves on how we support, value, and invest in our colleagues. Our maternity services are busy, rewarding, and person-centered. We are seeking additional midwives to help us continue providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care for women and their families throughout their inpatient journey.

You can contact [email protected] to arrange an informal visit.

We are committed to providing outstanding care for women and families during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Every woman and family is treated as an individual, and their values, preferences, and needs underpin our practice.

SWB also offers excellent development opportunities for those looking to expand their skills, gain experience across a range of inpatient settings, and progress their midwifery career.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team on our postnatal wards, delivering compassionate, safe, and evidence-based care to women and their babies following birth. This includes supporting postnatal recovery, infant feeding, newborn care, maternal wellbeing, discharge planning, and health promotion in line with local and national guidelines.

You will care for a diverse population of women and families and work closely with obstetricians, neonatal teams, maternity support workers, physiotherapists, infant feeding specialists, safeguarding teams, and community colleagues to ensure a seamless patient journey.

Being a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills is essential, whilst also being able to manage your own workload and prioritise care effectively within a busy inpatient environment.

We are committed to supporting professional development and can provide training and development opportunities to enhance your clinical skills. If you have a particular interest in developing an area of practice, such as infant feeding, enhanced recovery, and NIPE, we will endeavour to support your career aspirations.

Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) accreditation is desirable for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team dedicated to providing outstanding postnatal care and ensuring women and families have a positive experience during their hospital stay.
