About this role

Finance Business Partner (Client Advisory) Brighton | £40,000 to £55,000 + benefits | Flexitime

If you’re an accountant who gets more out of talking a client through their numbers than producing them, this role was built for you.

My client is a modern, advisory-led accountancy practice in central Brighton. They’re hiring a Finance Business Partner to look after a portfolio of ambitious owner-managed businesses. You’ll be the person those owners call when they want to understand what’s really going on in their business.

The key difference here is that you won’t be buried in bookkeeping or year-end compliance. Dedicated internal teams handle bookkeeping, payroll and accounts production. Your job is to take that work and turn it into advice the client can act on.

What you’ll be doing

Acting as the main point of contact for your own client portfolioRunning quarterly and annual planning meetings built around the management accountsExplaining the numbers in plain English and helping owners make better decisionsSpotting risks and growth opportunities before the client doesWorking with the bookkeeping, payroll and accounts teams to keep delivery on trackLooking after the commercial side of each relationship, including renewals, billing and engagement What they’re looking for

ACA or ACCA is welcome, but it isn’t a deal breaker. What matters more is that you’re good with clients. You’ll probably have:

Solid practice experience with real client-facing responsibilityExperience reviewing management accountsThe confidence to explain financial information clearly to non-finance peopleGood organisation skills, and you’re comfortable juggling several clients at onceXero or similar cloud accounting experience Why this firm

They’re a friendly, collaborative team who use good systems, keep admin to a minimum and give people space to do meaningful work. The benefits go well beyond the basics:

Flexitime25 days holiday, with the option to buy moreEarly finish on Fridays over the summerSabbatical leave after five yearsClear progression and ongoing professional development, with time off for trainingAn annual charity day and quarterly team eventsPension, death in service cover and a cycle to work schemeRelaxed dress codeSalary reviewed every year If you want to swap the compliance treadmill for proper advisory work, I’d love to have a confidential chat. Call me or drop me a message, and I’ll tell you more about the firm and the team.
