One of the largest Construction contractors in the UK, the successful applicant will be an individual who holds 5+ years of complex structural renewal and maintenance experience and is capable of delivering engineering solutions within a design and build environment.
Role: Senior Design Engineer - Civils
Location: Balfour Beatty Pensions Centre, Kings Business Park, Kings Drive, Prescot, Merseyside, L34 1PJ (100% office based but hybrid working can be negotiated after initial training)
Salary: £55ph
Contract length: 12 months initially with the potential to be extended
Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours per week (standard office hours)
Responsibilities:
Undertaking the design of complex structural renewal and maintenance projects from inception to design completionConducting structures assessmentsManaging the delivery of site investigations / surveying and planningPreparing and reviewing technical reports and draft specifications for remedial and improvement worksPreparing calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and technical reportsProviding technical reports on the condition / capacity of existing structuresCarrying out detailed design and preparing supporting documentation Undertaking structure inspection, assessment and preparation of reports Identifying technical resources required to deliver aspects of a ProjectSupervising implementation of work and undertaking appropriate checking of the work as required A full JD can be provided with additional accountability Essential requirements:
Degree educated within Civil or Structural Engineering discipline (HNC will be accepted with the addition of 5+ years railway structure design experience)Registered with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated EngineerWorking towards membership of the I.C.EGood working knowledge of Group Standards / Health and Safety legislation and CDM regulationsKnowledge of engineering drawing practicescompetent in CAD and familiar with Structure Analysis package (STAADpro or similar) Experienced in the detailed facets of engineering for particular discipline. Previous experience delivering solutions to engineering problems in the design and build environment experience in leading medium sized teams Desirable requirements:
Experience in railway based civil engineering and structures Undertaking PTS, IWA, COSS, confined spaces, aerial platform, OHLE training (as required)Experience in the asset management of railway civil engineering structures Does this role sound interesting?
