The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading multinational civil engineering contractor delivering a high-profile, landmark infrastructure project in Glasgow.This is a key commercial leadership role on a complex, long-term scheme that will have lasting regional and national significance, offering exposure to major stakeholders, cutting-edge delivery methods, and long-term career progression within a global organisation.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for significant work packages, supporting the Commercial Manager and leading the commercial function on site. You will be involved from pre-contract through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
Full commercial management of civil engineering works packagesProcurement and contract administration of subcontractorsManagement of change, compensation events, and variationsCost forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to senior stakeholdersPreparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accountsSupporting and mentoring junior commercial staffEnsuring robust commercial governance and compliance with company procedures About YouYou will be an experienced commercially focused professional with a strong background in heavy civil engineering or infrastructure projects. You will ideally have:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large civil or infrastructure schemesStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 preferred)Background with Tier 1 or large regional civil engineering contractorsExcellent commercial and financial acumenStrong negotiation and stakeholder management skillsDegree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related disciplineMRICS or working towards professional qualification (desirable) What's in It for You?
