On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a Financial Controller to work with to lead the finance function of an established SME manufacturing business in Telford.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will combine strong financial control with commercial insight, supporting the business in improving performance and delivering its strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Oversee monthly management accounts, year-end statutory reporting, audit and regulatory compliance.
Partner with the SLT and Board, providing financial insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, cash flow management and financial planning.
Translate operational performance into meaningful financial KPIs, targets and forecasts.
Maintain strong financial controls, balance sheet integrity and compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, working capital and operational performance.
Drive improvements across finance systems, reporting, processes and controls.
Champion the effective use of Sage, Excel and other digital tools to improve efficiency.
Lead, motivate and develop a small finance team, creating a culture of continuous improvement.
About You
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
Strong SME finance experience, ideally within manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
Commercially minded and comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on level.
Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial modelling experience.
Able to translate financial information into clear commercial insight for non-finance stakeholders.
Advanced Excel skills and good accounting systems knowledge; Sage experience advantageous.
Proactive and improvement focused, with a strong analytical and data-driven approach.
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
High levels of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to delivering results.
