Your new company This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business based in Bridgend, operating as part of a wider international group. The business offers a collaborative and supportive working environment where finance plays a key role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making.Due to an upcoming handover period, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager/Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function. Working closely with the UK Director and supported by an Accounts Assistant, this is a highly autonomous role suited to someone who enjoys taking responsibility and working independently.Your new role This is a stand-alone Management Accountant position where you will take full ownership of the month-end process and financial reporting function.Working within Sage 200 and Excel, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the management accounts whilst acting as the primary point of contact for auditors, HMRC and other external stakeholders.Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting packsProducing and analysing profit and loss statements and balance sheetsCompleting balance sheet and control account reconciliationsPosting journals, including accruals, prepayments and payroll journalsPreparing and submitting VAT returnsMaintaining the fixed asset registerManaging stock accounting, inventory reconciliations and stock valuationsCompleting sales and stock reconciliationsSupporting budgeting and forecasting activitiesProducing financial reports and analysis for senior managementLiaising with external auditors and supporting annual audit processesManaging customs, duty and HMRC-related finance requirementsMaintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with company policiesSupervising and supporting an Accounts AssistantIdentifying opportunities to improve existing financial processes and reporting What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Finance Manager, Company Accountant or similar roleProven ability to produce accurate monthly management accounts independentlyStrong balance sheet reconciliation experienceExperience posting journals, accruals and prepaymentsGood understanding of VAT and statutory reporting requirementsExperience managing stock and inventory accountingStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and provide meaningful insightAbility to operate confidently within a stand-alone finance roleExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsStrong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders Desirable
Sage 200 experienceAdvanced Excel skills including reporting and analysisExperience working within a sales, distribution or stock-based environmentPrevious responsibility for audit preparation and auditor liaisonExperience supervising or mentoring junior finance staffExposure to customs, duty or foreign currency accounting What you'll get in return
