Head of Commodity Financial Risk - Market, Credit & Treasury
London | Five days per week in the office | Base salary circa £300,000 plus highly competitive bonus
Robert Walters is working exclusively with a fast-growing, international commodities business to appoint a senior financial risk leader.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading market-risk oversight across commodity exposure, asset and charter risk, foreign exchange and interest-rate risk.
Monitoring exposure across physical and financial positions, assessing concentration and downside scenarios, and providing relevant risk insight to senior decision-makers.
Establishing and enhancing market-risk limits, risk appetite, stress testing, scenario analysis, exposure reporting and escalation processes.
Leading credit and counterparty-risk activity across the group's commercial and trading relationships.
Assessing counterparty creditworthiness, setting and monitoring credit limits, recommending risk mitigants and managing exceptions or escalations.
Leading treasury-risk oversight, including liquidity, cash-flow forecasting, working capital, debt and financing exposure, bank relationships, FX and interest-rate sensitivity.
The person You will bring:
A proven background in a trading house, commodity merchant, energy platform, shipping business or comparable asset-heavy organisation.
Strong practical experience of commodity, market, FX, interest-rate, liquidity and counterparty-risk management.
A clear understanding of physical commodity trading and the interaction between commercial activity, credit exposure, working capital, hedging and liquidity.
Experience of building or materially enhancing financial-risk frameworks, limits, reporting, governance and decision-support processes.
Credibility with senior commercial stakeholders and the confidence to provide constructive challenge in a fast-moving environment.
