Are you an experienced Operations Manager within Engineering and would like to join a very well established business who are offering career progression to Director level. There is a salary of up to £68,000 plus a great benefits package and strong working culture. This is a new role within the business and the position is available to start within the next few weeks!
To manage and maintain an efficient and effective Operations Department in line with Company strategy, including warehouse and manufacturing management and controls, distribution, stock and materials, staff management and labour efficiencies. Initially the role will be focussed on the production/engineering side of the business which will then lead to overseeing the warehouse/transport department.

Production Planning and Management

Ensure effective planning, in-house manufacturing & distribution of products whilst balancing the advantages and disadvantages of in-house or external manufacture to ensure the most cost effective method is used to satisfy sales demand Provide cost effective and efficient planning of all labour resources and ensure optimum productivity and outputsRecruit and work closely with R&D/Quality/Purchasing staff to ensure smooth introduction of new products ranges and variants, plus improve methods of manufacture and assembly for all products. To liaise with Technical reference manufacturing and distribution improvementsConstantly review ‘Make-Buy’ decisions for all manufacturing/assembly items with the Purchasing Department. TO work with Purchasing to ensure excellent supply chain service pricing and deliveryWork closely with other Heads of Departments to ensure strong integrated and holistic processes and management flows.Contribute to budget planning, assimilation and operational management to ensure all activities operate within budget and seek continuous improvements in efficiencies across systems and processes to reduce operating costs wherever possible
Engineering / Health and Safety & Quality
Manage and maintain all Company VCA accreditation, maintenance and compliance Manage the engineering function to ensure that the company develops products as necessaryEnsure production engineering complements the budget, drives increased efficiency and reduces the reliance on manual labourEnsure all Company VCA accreditation, maintenance and compliance is retainedMaintain all procedures and documentation as set out in the accreditation proceduresEnsure all procedures are compliant with the VCA accreditation To work towards the implementation of an ISO system of workingEnsure that all Staff work in a safe manner and provide internal and external risk assessments.Ensure a safe and healthy environment free from potential hazard or risk
Transportation, Distribution and Warehouse Management
Ensure that all sales despatch targets are achieved and that customer delivery aspirations are met/exceededOrganise and distribute goods in the most cost effective and efficient mannerUndertake frequent monitoring checks (daily) to ensure that all orders, stock and transportation are organised and scheduled in line with customer due dates. Manage and control cost effective and efficient use of external transport resources. Manage and maintain an accurate, effective and efficient stock inventory and controlDevelop and implement a standard of continuous improvement, maintaining a tightly managed model of 'goods in and goods out’ inspections to optimise quality standardsManage and control Storage Capacity as effectively and efficiently as possibleMaintain tight cost controls across whole section
About You:
You will come from an Engineering background, ideally with an engineering qualificationProficient with ERP systemsA self starterExperienced in managing team members
