About this role
The Functional Testing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and functional accuracy of the organization’s software platforms, particularly systems related to video analytics and video management. The role focuses on validating that software features and system integrations meet defined requirements through structured functional testing, test planning, and defect analysis across the software development lifecycle.
Working closely with development and product teams, the engineer reviews system designs, develops and executes test cases, and analyzes test results to identify issues and improve product quality. The role requires a solid understanding of software QA methodologies, experience with both white-box and black-box testing, and the ability to use programming or scripting languages (such as Java or Python) and SQL to support test execution, data validation, and troubleshooting of system behaviour.
Responsibilities | CORE
Mentor the Junior QA engineers and efficiently manage the resources to support the projects and ensure the quality deliveryDefine test strategy and test plan based on software development plan for the projectsOversees and actively participates in test execution and the development of testing artefacts, including: performance test requirements, defect tracking and reporting, performance test plans, cases, scripts, reports, etc. for assigned projectsConsult with product development to evaluate system interfaces, operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall systemDefine test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditionsRecommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the development processMaintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changesMonitor program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operationFormulate and design software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of designCreate test tools that facilitate data gathering and test method execution
Python & Bash Scripting: Write and maintain Python, Bash script or PowerShell script for automation, deployments, and troubleshooting.Troubleshooting & Monitoring: Proactively monitor systems, perform root cause analysis, and ensure the reliability of the platform.Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to collaborate on any tasks when required.
Familiar with at least one programming language, like Java, Python…Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processesHands-on experience with both white box and black box testingHands on experience with automated testing toolsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong leadership and communication skillsExperience in microservices architecture and distributed systems.Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.Utilize basic knowledge of Linux Based OS to manage servers, deployment environments, and perform necessary scripting.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.Strong skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis within distributed systems.Nice-to-Have:
Basic knowledge of AI concepts and video analytics technologies like OpenCV or FFmpeg.Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development processExperience with performance and/or security testing is plusExperience working in a multinational corporation or worldwide enterpriseExperience to use selenium testing frameworkSelf-motivatedFluent in English writing and speakingSoft Skills:
