Teaching Assistant - Behaviour Specialist Preferred (low level behaviour) Location: Greater Manchester Start Date: October or November 2026 Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Pay: £100 to £130 per day
Hays Education are working in partnership with an excellent Secondary School in Bury to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a role starting in October 2026 or November 2026.We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in behaviour support, pastoral care, youth work, alternative provision, SEMH, or those who have experience working with students who require additional support to engage positively in school life.As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting learning, and helping pupils overcome barriers to education.
Your new role
Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groupsManaging and de-escalating challenging behaviourPromoting student engagement and participation in lessonsWorking alongside teachers to deliver targeted interventionsBuilding positive relationships with students, staff and parents What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, care, sports coaching, or mentoring settingStrong behaviour management skillsA calm, resilient and proactive approachExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAn enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Hays What you'll get in return
