Senior Backend Developer (Java / AWS) Rate: £500-£600 per day (Outside IR35) Location: London (3 days per month onsite) Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Overview We're supporting a financial services client looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help deliver and optimise a suite of cloud-native services. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant involvement in solution design, technical direction, and code quality.
What You'll Be Doing Developing scalable backend services using Java and Spring BootDesigning and building RESTful APIs and event-driven solutionsDeploying and maintaining applications within AWS environmentsContributing to architecture, engineering standards, and best practicesSupporting CI/CD processes and Infrastructure as Code initiativesParticipating in code reviews and mentoring other developers Key Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience with Java (ideally Java 21+) and Spring BootProven background building cloud-native applications on AWSExperience designing microservices and API-based architecturesGood understanding of containerisation and cloud deploymentsExposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDKFinancial services experience would be advantageous
