About this role

Finance Project Manager – Capex & Transformation

Derbyshire | Hybrid Working

£65,000–£70,000 + £7,000 Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

Are you a qualified accountant with experience in project finance, capital investment, finance business partnering or improving financial processes? Looking for an opportunity to step into a more project-focused role, influence how finance operates and lead meaningful improvements across a large, complex organisation?

Eaton Syalon is exclusively partnering with a large, complex UK organisation to recruit a Finance Project Manager into its central Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working across the business, managing projects, improving processes and delivering meaningful change.

You don't necessarily need to come from a dedicated finance transformation background. We're equally interested in hearing from Project Accountants, Finance Business Partners, Capital Investment Accountants and Finance Managers who have strong project experience and enjoy making things work better.

The opportunity

Your initial focus will be taking a leading role in a significant, business-wide Capital Expenditure (Capex) improvement programme.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and senior stakeholders across Finance and Operations, you'll help review, redesign and improve how the organisation plans, approves, monitors and reports on capital investment.

This is a varied, high-profile role combining financial expertise, project management, stakeholder engagement and process improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Leading improvements across the end-to-end capital investment process, from business cases and project approvals through to financial forecasting, cost tracking and project closure.

· Reviewing existing finance processes, identifying inefficiencies and developing practical solutions that improve consistency, accuracy and financial control.

· Managing project plans, milestones, deliverables and stakeholder engagement to ensure improvements are delivered effectively.

· Working closely with Finance, Operations and other business teams to understand requirements and develop better ways of working.

· Improving Capex reporting, financial information and visibility of investment performance.

· Supporting the assessment and potential implementation of new finance systems, software and reporting tools.

· Coordinating testing, training and the successful introduction of new processes across the organisation.

· Contributing to wider finance improvement initiatives, including process standardisation, controls and reporting efficiencies.

· Managing and developing one direct report involved in a separate finance improvement project.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a qualified accountant who enjoys getting involved in projects, challenging existing processes and working collaboratively to deliver improvements.

You'll ideally bring:

· ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.

· Experience gained in project accounting, finance business partnering, capital investment, financial control, finance systems or finance transformation.

· Exposure to managing or supporting significant projects, whether capital investment, operational improvement, systems implementation or financial process change.

· Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing colleagues across Finance and the wider business.

· Good organisational and project management skills, including managing priorities, timescales and deliverables.

· An appetite for improving how Finance operates and delivering practical, sustainable solutions.

Experience of Capex management, project accounting or finance systems implementation would be particularly beneficial, but you don't need to have previously held a formal transformation or continuous improvement role.

Why consider this opportunity?

This isn't a traditional Finance Manager role focused on month-end reporting.

It's an opportunity to use your accounting and commercial finance experience in a different way, taking ownership of a major business improvement programme within a large, established organisation.

You'll have the opportunity to:

· Play a key role in a significant capital investment improvement programme.

· Gain exposure to senior finance and operational stakeholders across the business.

· Build on your finance experience and develop broader project management and transformation expertise.

· Influence how financial processes, systems and controls operate across a complex organisation.

· Enjoy a varied role with a mixture of financial analysis, project delivery, stakeholder management and continuous improvement.

For a qualified accountant who enjoys projects, problem-solving and making things better, this offers an excellent opportunity to take their career in a different direction.
