About this role
Your new company Hays Education are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join a welcoming SEN school in Chester on a temporary basis until Christmas. This is a full-time role working across the school site, helping to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will be practical, hands-on and capable of managing a varied workload in a busy school environment.
Your new role
Opening and securing areas of the school site as requiredCarrying out general maintenance and basic repairsEnsuring the school grounds and buildings are safe, clean and presentableSetting up rooms and facilities for meetings, events and school activitiesConducting routine health and safety checksMonitoring contractors and deliveries on siteResponding promptly to maintenance issues and site-related requestsSupporting the wider school team with day-to-day site duties
What you'll need to succeed
Previous caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance experienceExperience working within a school environment is desirableGood understanding of health and safety proceduresAbility to work independently and use initiativePractical DIY and maintenance skillsEnhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
