We are working with an established independent accountancy practice in the Greater Manchester area.
The firm provides a broad range of accountancy and taxation services to businesses across a variety of sectors and is particularly interested in experienced practice professionals who enjoy combining technical expertise with a proactive, client-focused approach.
This opportunity would suit someone who is confident managing client relationships, enjoys supporting and developing colleagues and would welcome the chance to take on greater responsibility within a professional and collaborative environment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The position would involve managing a varied portfolio of clients, overseeing accounts preparation and compliance work, and acting as a trusted point of contact for business owners and directors.
You will love the variety of managing clients whilst supporting a team of junior colleagues, contributing to the efficient management of workflow and become increasingly involved in providing practical financial guidance to clients.
People skills are equally as important as technical skills for this role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing a portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companiesOverseeing the preparation and review of statutory accounts and year-end financial statementsPreparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and returnsOverseeing management accounts and providing meaningful financial information to clientsReviewing VAT returns and supporting associated compliance requirementsSupporting personal tax and wider accounting matters where appropriateBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with business owners and directorsActing as a key point of contact for client queries, providing clear, practical and commercially focused adviceReviewing work prepared by junior and semi-senior accountants, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlinesSupporting the development of junior colleagues through mentoring, guidance and constructive feedbackManaging workflow and coordinating multiple client deadlinesIdentifying opportunities to improve efficiency, systems and internal processesWorking closely with senior colleagues on more complex client matters and supporting the delivery of a high-quality client service This is a hands-on role offering a good balance of technical accounting, client management and team development.
ABOUT YOU
You may already be working as an Accounts Manager or Client Manager, or perhaps you are an experienced Senior Accountant or Assistant Manager who feels ready to take on additional responsibility.
IDEALLY YOU WILL HAVE
Strong previous experience within an accountancy practice environmentExperience preparing and reviewing year-end and statutory accountsGood technical knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and management accountsExperience managing a portfolio of clients or taking responsibility for key client relationshipsThe confidence to communicate directly with business owners and directorsExperience reviewing the work of junior colleagues, or the ambition to develop supervisory responsibilitiesStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesA good understanding of modern accounting software and Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent communication skills and a professional, approachable mannerA proactive attitude and genuine interest in helping clients achieve their business objectivesACA or ACCA qualification is essential for this role WHAT MAKES THIS OPPORTUNITY ATTRACTIVE
Rather than focusing solely on year-end accounts and routine compliance, the position offers scope to become more involved in understanding clients businesses and supporting their wider financial requirements.
The opportunity may particularly appeal to an individual who wants to combine hands-on technical work with client management, team development and more commercially focused responsibilities.
Candidates stepping up from a Senior Accountant or Assistant Manager position may be considered from approximately £45,000, depending on their experience and potential.
Experienced Accounts Managers with strong client portfolio management and supervisory experience may be considered towards the upper end of the salary range.
