Journeyman Job Description Electrical Qualifications and Requirements The Maintenance Journeyman assigned to electrical work must possess and maintain a valid Virginia Journeyman Electrician License or Master Electrician License issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). The employee must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, wiring, lighting, and related components in accordance with applicable electrical codes and safety standards. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, identifying and correcting electrical hazards, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems throughout division facilities. The employee must maintain all required licensure and complete applicable continuing education requirements throughout employment.
