About this role
Partnering with education Institutions around Victoria, JB Education helps place Specialist Technicians in Victorian schools where they play a key role in providing customers with onsite, level 1 and 2 desktop support, basic server administration services and a high level of customer support. The Specialist Technician is a mid-advanced level role and the perfect opportunity for those looking to expand and grow their IT Skills and Experience.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide Service Desk Level 1 and Level 2 support as required in line with client needs and general desktop, hardware, software support and troubleshootingAssist school staff and students with their day-to-day technical needs and queriesMaintain and support classroom technology including projectors, televisions, printers, speakers and other AV equipmentAssist Specialist Technician in the execution and completion of assigned tasks through to resolutionProviding local support for the Notebooks for Teachers and Principals ProgramDeployment of system images including packaging, building, testing and updating in live environmentsContribution to the technical documents of the schoolParticipate in on-site installation of the overall system(s), both hardware and softwareProvide basic server administration skills in areas such as password resets, printer queues, backup media and network services and any other responsibilities assigned by the Specialist Technician We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and thrives in both autonomous and team environments. Who has a curious mindset towards problem solving and excellent customer service skills.
You will also ideally possess:
A certificate IV in IT Systems Administration (or equivalent industry certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco), at minimumStrong foundation in networking concepts (VLAN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)But don’t worry if you do not meet all the criteria! Experience with virtualisation technologies, with a strong preference for Hyper-V; exposure to VMware and other platforms, highly regardedStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical usersAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamProven problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues through to resolutionExperience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and general server administrationHands-on experience with hardware (servers, switches, wireless, firewalls), highly regardedExperience supporting end users, Service Desk environments, and BYOD setupsExposure to cloud platforms, MDM solutions, and device deployment (Windows, Apple, ChromeOS)Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environmentA valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential due to travel between sitesValid Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC)Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced environmentPrevious experience working in schools or education environments is highly desirable The Expression of Interest (EOI) is a rolling, on-going recruitment that is designed to help applicants to find an opportunity that is best suited to them without having to apply to multiple roles, as well as allow them to select the areas around Victoria that are closest to them.
