What You’ll Be Doing
Troubleshoot, repair, commission, and tune diesel- and natural-gas-fired burner systemsDiagnose combustion problems, ignition failures, flame-safeguard lockouts, and burner control issuesPerform combustion analysis and adjust fuel-air ratios for safe, reliable, and efficient operationTest and troubleshoot switches, relays, actuators, sensors, transmitters, valves, motors, and safety interlocksRead and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and burner sequences of operationService and commission industrial steam boilers, hydronic boilers, and mobile oilfield boiler systemsSupport boiler inspections, repairs, recertifications, and fire testing at our Nisku facilityComplete preventative maintenance and identify equipment or safety concerns before failures occurPrepare clear service reports and communicate findings and repair recommendations to customersRespond to scheduled service work and participate in an on-call rotationTravel to customer sites throughout Alberta, generally for day trips, with occasional overnight stays Required Qualifications
Valid Alberta Journeyperson Gasfitter Class B certificationRelevant experience in the Alberta oil-and-gas or industrial service industryHands-on experience servicing diesel- and natural-gas-fired burnersDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot industrial combustion and flame-safeguard systemsWorking knowledge of electrical controls and safe electrical troubleshooting practicesStrong mechanical aptitude and a systematic approach to diagnosticsAbility to work independently in both shop and field environmentsValid driver’s licence with an acceptable driving recordWillingness to travel and participate in an on-call rotationPreferred Qualifications
Any of the following would be considered a strong asset:
Alberta Gasfitter Class A certificationJourneyperson or apprentice certification in electrical, instrumentation, HVAC/refrigeration, steamfitting/pipefitting, or a related tradeHVAC, building-automation, or industrial-controls experienceExperience with PLCs, burner management systems, VFDs, modulating controls, and combustion analyzersExperience with high-pressure steam boilers and mobile oilfield boiler equipmentExperience commissioning new or repaired combustion systemsFamiliarity with applicable gas, electrical, boiler, and pressure-equipment requirementsEquipment Experience
Experience with any of the following manufacturers or systems would be an asset:

Work Schedule and Travel
Regular weekday schedule based from our Nisku facilityField travel throughout Alberta, with most assignments completed as day tripsOccasional overnight staysParticipation in an on-call rotationApproximately one to two unscheduled service callouts per week, depending on customer demand and rotation coverageOvertime paid after eight hours per day or 44 hours per weekCompensation and Support
