Role Overview
Omdia, an Informa TechTarget Company, is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Integrated Tech consulting team in Japan, with a specialized focus on Manufacturing Technology. This person will support delivering high-quality outputs for custom consulting projects and interact with internal/external customers as part of their day-to-day activity. The role reports to the Director of Consulting based in EMEA whilst closely interacts with other Japan and global team members within the Integrated Tech consulting team as well as the broader strategic consulting group.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities primarily within the manufacturing technology sectorBuild and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clientsDevelop compelling value propositions and solutions tailored to client needs in manufacturing technologyCollaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with organizational growth strategyRepresent Omdia at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance market presence2. Project Management
Lead end-to-end management of custom consulting projects, ensuring delivery to client satisfactionAchieve individual consulting billable utilization targetsDevelop comprehensive project plans with clear objectives, timelines, and resource allocationCoordinate cross-functional teams including analysts, consultants, and subject matter expertsMonitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholdersEnsure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget3. Project Fulfillment
Conduct qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary research, including data collection, analysis, and synthesis focused on manufacturing technology marketsPerform market analysis, competitive intelligence, and corporate strategy assessmentsPrepare concise, structured research deliverables such as briefs, reports, presentations, and strategic recommendationsEnsure deliverables align with client expectations and demonstrate deep industry expertiseTrack project progress and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle4. Bid Management
Lead all bid stages of custom projects including drafting of project proposal documentsDevelop competitive and compelling proposals that address client requirementsWhere necessary, manage third-party subcontractor(s) to support project delivery5. Client Engagement
Ensure exceptional client service through proactive communication and professional handling of requestsSupport presentations and meetings by gathering key insights, creating visuals, and preparing briefing materialsAct as a trusted advisor to clients on manufacturing technology trends, market dynamics, and strategic opportunitiesBuild long-term client relationships that drive repeat business and referrals Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or an applicable field; master’s degree preferredMinimum 10 years of experience in market research, consulting, and/or engineering with demonstrated expertise in manufacturing technology and/or related industryStrong familiarity with market analysis methodologies and corporate strategy frameworksProven track record in business development, project management, and project fulfillmentDeep understanding of manufacturing technology markets, including trends, competitive landscape, and industry dynamicsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to source, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sourcesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and other productivity tools such as Tableau and BIExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishStrong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyProactive, adaptable, and a quick learner with strong attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamProven client-facing experience with senior-level stakeholdersStrong client-facing and presentation skills TechTarget, Inc., doing business as Informa TechTarget, including its subsidiaries is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
