About this role

Salary: £35,000 - 36,000 per year

Requirements: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field; up to 2 years of software development experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including internships, placements or personal projects.A solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, and common design patterns.Familiarity with one or more of C#/.NET, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, or another object-oriented language.An understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile ways of working.Curiosity and a genuine desire to learn independently and by asking questions.Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical colleagues.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Respect for best-practice standards and departmental policies and procedures.A highly motivated, self-starting and collaborative approach, with a desire to help others and take action.Ability to work independently as a contributing member of a fast-paced, focused team.Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks with competing deadlines.Ability to share ideas and influence decisions without direct authority.Exposure to relational databases, web development, Git, Visual Studio, or Azure DevOps/Jira is an advantage, but not required. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain software for our products across the full stack, using C#/.NET, SQL Server, and React/TypeScript.Learn and apply our coding, testing and database standards, with support from senior engineers.Use AI coding assistants and agents such as Claude Code effectively, and critically review, test and validate their output before committing it.Write and maintain automated unit, database and end-to-end tests to ensure changes meet documented requirements.Investigate, debug and resolve defects in development and production, and clearly document fixes.Work with our Product Owner to understand requirements and help estimate feature work.Work with our QA Engineers on test plans and resolve issues identified during release stabilisation.Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and team discussions about technical approaches.Communicate progress clearly and ask for help early when blocked.
