Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our specialist Neuro-rehabilitation Team within the Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU) for 1 day a week. This is a unique opportunity to work in a hyperacute setting with a 10-bed specialised rehabilitation service, funded directly by NHS England, within the UHNM Major Trauma Centre.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with complex neurological conditions: including acquired brain injury (including prolonged disorders of consciousness), complex major trauma and spinal cord injury. The role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting both service delivery and team, service development.
Main duties of the job
Deliver goal orientated Physiotherapy assessments and interventions within a hyperacute rehabilitation setting Manage a complex caseload of patients with complex neurological conditions, including acute acquired brain injury and prolonged disorders of consciousness Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve patient centred goals Lead on clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and complex patient management Manage Physiotherapy rehabilitation treatments with patients who have a tracheostomy Be able to complete basic tracheostomy care and suction Manage spasticity and postural control alongside members of the MDT Supervise, mentor, and support junior members of the Physiotherapy team, therapy technicians and students Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement Contribute to facilitating complex discharges from the acute hospital to home or ongoing services required to suit patients individualised needs Day to day management of Therapy staff and service requirements Support will be provided by Principal Therapists and Therapy Managers, as well as a network of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists within the care group.

Education & Qualifications Essential
Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Registered with HCPC Evidence of personal & professinal development

Working towards a higher qualification qualification relevant to speciality e.g. Master's degree
Experience Essential
Post graduate experience (NHS) with considerable experience in speciality area Experience of teaching students, staff & other proessional groups Experience working in neurological rehabilitation and goal orientated rehab
