We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Receptionist to join our Private Maternity Team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a leading NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the delivery of high-quality care and an outstanding patient experience.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Maternity Team Leader, you will provide a professional reception and administrative service, acting as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. Responsibilities include welcoming patients, managing appointments, coordinating tours and antenatal bookings, issuing financial estimates, collecting monies on account, and supporting the smooth running of the service.

The reception service operates between 08:00 and 20:00, Monday-Saturday with staff working a combination of early and late shifts to ensure full coverage.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with both clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure a seamless patient journey.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications Essential

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths. Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and/or previous experience of working in an administrative environment. Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services or equivalent qualification.

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of being able to respond to queries and deal with unpredictable situations as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 3 or equivalent). Experience of working in a customer facing environment, with knowledge of a comprehensive range of administrative procedures.
