Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Maternity Support Worker to join the Community Midwifery Team or in hospital based Antenatal clinic, Maternity Day Assessment Unit and Maternity Triage at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, at Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting pregnant people and new families within the community or Maternity and delivering compassionate, woman-centred care.
Working closely with community midwives, you will support the delivery of postnatal services, including breastfeeding support, newborn blood spot screening, baby weighing, phlebotomy, and low-risk postnatal home visits. You will also assist in postnatal clinics, contribute to antenatal and breastfeeding education sessions, and provide practical support and health promotion advice to women and their families.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a maternity setting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a registered nurse or midwife, competently performs the necessary aspects of care for patients which are delegated by the registered nurse or midwife. For example:- Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community or other settings- Records patient observations and changes to patient clinical conditions.- Carries out limited clinical care duties The post holder is responsible for ensuring that patients are cared for in a safe environment and that privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. To follow all Imperial College Healthcare Trust (ICHT) policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients. Participate in personal and practice development activities to maintain standards of care.

Worked at a Band 2 Nursing Healthcare Support Worker Customer care experience. Experience of using computers and willing to undertake training in local computer systems Possesses the communication skills necessary to effectively fulfil the job requirements, including the ability to speak and write clearly and appropriately.
Desirable
Experience in supporting Quality Improvement audits and research and development activities. Experience of taking clinical observations.
Skills/knowledge/ abilities Essential
Proven ability to work within a team and work without close supervision. Able to listen effectively and demonstrate a sympathetic /sensitive approach, and be able to speak effectively to colleagues, staff and patients. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of data protection and health and safety issues. Awareness of risks, identifying them and alerting appropriate personnel.
Desirable
Venepuncture and cannulation skills Competent in ECG lead placement for cardiac monitoring and 12 lead ECGs. Previous experience of complex health needs
