We are currently looking for an Early Intervention Lead to join our STEP team on a Full-Time Basis!

Our Early Intervention Lead will support the delivery and development of effective early intervention practices across the programme. The role provides guidance and mentoring to programme staff, promotes effective behaviour support and learner wellbeing, and facilitates collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals, families and educational settings. The Early Intervention Lead will also contribute to staff development, programme oversight and continuous service improvement, ensuring that practices are consistent, individualised and aligned with organisational and professional standards.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the development, implementation and review of individualised behaviour support plans and strategies.

• Guide and support staff in understanding and responding to behaviours of concern.

• Promote positive and preventative approaches to behaviour that focus on understanding individual needs and reducing barriers to participation.

• Promote consistency in the use of programme frameworks and approaches, including SPELL, TEACCH, AAC, PECS and low-arousal approaches.

• Monitor the quality and effectiveness of intervention practices across the programme.

• Contribute to the development and review of programme procedures, resources and practices.

• Identify areas for improvement and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

• Identify and recommend appropriate resources, visual supports and environmental adaptations.

• Liaise and collaborate with internal and external professionals, including psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and educators.

• Liaise and collaborate with service users’ schools, including supporting the implementation of IEP goals within the programme where possible.

• Facilitate and/or support Inclusive Education Practitioners during LSE and/or parent visits to the programme and attend school visits with practitioners, as required.

• Ensure effective communication and integration of recommendations from different disciplines into daily practice.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of training sessions and workshops for parents/guardians during family support sessions.

• Provide ongoing mentoring and guidance to programme staff.

• Promote staff development in areas such as the effective implementation of the SPELL Framework and TEACCH Approach, and supporting the development of emotional and sensory regulation in learners.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of training sessions, workshops and professional development initiatives.

• Monitor children’s progress through observation, data collection and review of outcomes.

• Ensure appropriate adaptations are made to intervention strategies based on each child’s progress and changing needs.

• Support Psychology Assistants in data collection, observations, implementation of strategies and documentation.

• Contribute to policy development, programme planning and continuous service improvement related to early intervention.

• Maintain appropriate documentation, reporting and record-keeping in line with organisational policies and ethical standards.

• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

• Ensure compliance with GDPR policies and procedures when managing data.

• Work within the scope of practice appropriate to qualifications and professional regulations.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is:

• Passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young children and their families.

• Empathetic, patient and compassionate.

• In possession of an MQF Level 7 qualification in a relevant field, such as psychology, behavioural sciences, education, or a related therapeutic discipline, together with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience; OR

• In possession of an MQF Level 6 qualification in a relevant field, together with a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience.

• Relevant experience in early intervention, behaviour support, education, psychology, therapy or a related field.

• Demonstrable experience working with children with autism and/or other developmental needs.

• Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with families and educational settings.

• Knowledge and practical understanding of evidence-informed approaches to autism and early intervention.
