The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) is seeking a Research Analyst to join its Regional Surveillance Group.
If you are passionate about macroeconomics, research and understanding the forces shaping the ASEAN+3 region, this role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to AMRO’s regional surveillance work. As part of the Regional Surveillance Group, you will work alongside economists on ASEAN+3 regional macroeconomic outlooks, risk assessments, policy analysis and structural issues, contributing to AMRO’s flagship ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO) and other surveillance outputs.
As a Research Analyst, you will play an active role in supporting this work through economic and data analysis, research, database management and the preparation of analytical outputs, gaining exposure to a broad range of macroeconomic and financial issues across the ASEAN+3 region.

Job Responsibilities:
The Research Analyst will work closely with economists to produce the analytics and research that underpins AMRO’s regional surveillance work.
Key responsibilities include:
• Contribute to the production of the region surveillance knowledge products, including surveillance-related research, analytical papers and thematic studies, by sourcing, compiling and analyzing relevant data and statistics, applying appropriate analytical tools, and summarizing key findings. • Maintain and update key macroeconomic databases, ensuring their accuracy, accessibility, and usefulness for economists, and develop new databases where needed under supervisors’ guidance. • Maintain and enhance electronic templates, automated dashboards, and other analytical resources on a timely basis, ensuring that they remain current and effective. • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials and other outputs to support the Group’s analytical and policy-related work. • Compile routine macroeconomic updates in close coordination with economists and communicate them promptly to the Group Head and the broader Surveillance Groups. • Participate in research projects and provide broader research and analytical support, including drafting targeted notes on selected issues relevant to the Group’s work program. • Contribute to broader institutional and operational initiatives in support of AMRO’s mandate. The candidate should possess:
• A bachelor’s degree in economics, international finance, public policy, statistics or other related fields; a postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
• A strong background in macroeconomics and econometrics, with proven experience with economic research, database and content management.
• Familiarity with economic and financial databases, such as Bloomberg, CEIC, Haver Analytics and Refinitiv (Datastream); Familiarity with the application of econometric packages, such as EViews, MATLAB and Stata.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R would be an advantage; a willingness and ability to learn new tools and programming languages quickly is essential; familiarity with AI tools will be an added advantage.
• Experience and ability to use a range of visual presentation tools; familiarity with database management tools.
• Strong motivation and initiative, with a high degree of accountability for the accuracy and quality of data and analysis.
• Resourcefulness, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment.
