DESCRIPTION: Los Angeles Unified School District/Division of Special Education District Office of Transition Services SPECIALIST, TRANSITION SERVICES 38G (School Support Administrator, 0515) PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Transition Services, the duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Participates as a member of the District Office of Transition Services (DOTS) leadership team Develops and delivers effective professional development District-wide in the areas of secondary transition Provides direction and support in connecting standards-based instruction and transition services Ensures provision of transition services through classroom instruction, related services, and community experiences Negotiates linkages with community agencies to meet transition goals for students with disabilities with a variety of developmental strengths and needs Uses data to analyze trends, and develops, implements, and monitors transition programs that result in higher levels of post-secondary independence and employability for students with disabilities Assists in developing and maintaining effective collaborative inter-agency partnerships Provides other functions as necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with legal requirements for students with disabilities, beginning at age 14 Collaborates with District offices, regions, families, and community partners Supervises and evaluates certificated and classified staff Performs other duties as assigned SALARY: 38G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – B Basis ($120,083 – $149,480) – 221 paid days In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment). For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit. Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: At least five (5) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s) A valid California Administrative Services Credential A valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential requiring a bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, that included student teaching An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university Completion of required Master Plan and Multicultural coursework* *Applicants have one year to complete this requirement.
