MEP General Superintendent Mission Critical | Data Center | Philadelphia, PA | Barton Malow Company | REQ ID 11749 Position Summary Barton Malow is seeking a General Superintendent for a data center project near Philadelphia, PA. This individual must be open to travel and commit to working on the project site at least five days a week. The General Superintendent is responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects in collaboration with the on-site project staff. As the lead for jobsite safety, quality control, and project scheduling, you will serve as the primary liaison with architects and consultants on all field and constructability issues. You will evaluate project performance, assess site conditions, make sure work complies with scope, and manage trade partners to achieve project goals. Key Responsibilities Assist in developing work scopes and front-end documents for bidding so scope is clear, participate in the bid process (including post-bid interviews and bidder questions), and identify potential contractors based on project requirements Enforce corporate safety policies on the jobsite, including pre-task safety planning, and take responsibility for safety compliance in the field Organize and manage the day-to-day on-site labor force, supervising and coordinating contractor work to minimize interference Support the Project Manager in budget management and forecasting by controlling costs and monitoring potential changes from contractors Develop site logistics plans that maximize productivity and minimize impacts on building occupants Establish and implement the project baseline schedule, incorporating input from subcontractors and factors that could affect timing Lead pull planning and provide progress reports with a six-week look-ahead schedule to Project Managers and field staff Communicate daily issues, events, performance, and progress to the Project Managers, while building effective relationships with clients, team members, subcontractors, and relevant authorities Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills + Abilities Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering 15+ years of relevant experience, including data center construction experience Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a strong understanding of applicable contracts and legal provisions Ability to manage and embrace change, adapting to new processes and fresh perspectives on traditional challenges Ability to multitask and balance competing priorities, including project delivery and review of incomplete assignments, while maintaining excellent customer relationships Strong management skills to oversee trade partner performance and meet Barton Malow Company's high quality standards A strong sense of urgency and the ability to quickly assess and resolve complex issues effectively and fairly A team leader with excellent diplomatic and communication skills, able to handle and resolve conflicts assertively Why Barton Malow For more than a century, Barton Malow has built projects that matter, guided by a simple purpose: Building Today for a Better Tomorrow: People, Projects, and Communities.
