Job summary
The Medical Equipment Library Assistant ensures vital medical devices are available, clean, safe, and ready for patient use. They coordinate the management of high-demand equipment, log and process faulty devices, and work alongside the Clinical Engineering team to maximise equipment availability for frontline clinical services.
The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and provide clear updates to senior staff. The postholder will work closely with clinical teams across the Trust, delivering a responsive and professional service that directly supports patient care.

The Clinical Engineering EBME department is seeking an enthusiastic team member for the role of Medical Equipment Library assistant (MEL) to support equipment provision and basic service support functions for MEL managed devices and other ward-based equipment. Working closely with and supporting the Clinical engineering technical team on a daily basis.
The Dept. actively supports technical and personal development via external technical training courses and Trust training avenues, including Continuous Professional Development opportunities.
The successful candidate will possess good technical skills and be an excellent communicator, working closely with other members within Clinical engineering EBME team. They will possess good organisational skills and be able to manage multiple workstreams and changing priorities, giving feedback and updates to senior staff. They will be working directly with clinical staff across clinical areas on the acute site, maintaining professional relationships whilst undertaking their tasks.
A visit to the department is highly encouraged to understand the role and to meet the team.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00
