Main duties of the job
As a Medical Secretary, you will provide reliable and efficient support to consultants and the wider clinical team, helping to ensure patients receive a smooth and professional service.
You will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day medical administration, keeping consultants organised and ensuring important information reaches the right people at the right time.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting consultants with their day-to-day administrative requirements.
Managing correspondence, reports and clinical documentation.
Coordinating patient appointments, clinics and follow-up activity.
Communicating with patients, GPs, consultants and other healthcare professionals.
Handling telephone and email enquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
Maintaining accurate patient information and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Helping to ensure clinics and patient pathways run efficiently.
Working independently when required while maintaining close communication with the wider Optimised Care team.

We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our growing team on a part-time and/or bank basis, working through a combination of onsite and remote working.
The RoleThe Medical Secretary will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to consultants and clinical teams, helping to ensure that patient pathways and consultant services operate efficiently.
This is a varied role requiring someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable working independently. You will communicate with consultants, patients, GPs and other healthcare professionals and will be trusted to manage sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
The role will involve both onsite working at The Bromsgrove Hospital and remote working, providing flexibility for the right candidate.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative support to consultants and clinical teams.
Manage consultant correspondence, reports, letters and other clinical documentation.
Coordinate patient appointments, consultations, clinics and follow-up activity.
Liaise professionally with patients, consultants, GPs, hospitals and other healthcare professionals.
Manage telephone calls, emails and general enquiries relating to consultant services and patient care.
Prepare and process clinical correspondence accurately and within required timescales.
Maintain accurate patient records and administrative information.
Ensure information is appropriately recorded, distributed and filed.
Support consultants with clinic administration and diary requirements.
Assist with the coordination of investigations, procedures and follow-up appointments.
Monitor outstanding administrative tasks and ensure these are followed through to completion.
Help maintain smooth communication between consultants, patients and the wider Optimised Care team.
Handle confidential and sensitive patient information appropriately at all times.

Previous experience working as a Medical Secretary.
