We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estates Maintenance Worker (Specialist) Mechanical, Band 5 to join the Estates Department at Rotherham General Hospital.
You will play a key role in keeping our hospital buildings, plant and essential engineering services safe, reliable and operational. Working as part of the Estates team, you will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, repairs and small installations across a wide range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating and hot water, ventilation, medical gases, refrigeration, drainage and building management systems.
We are looking for someone with strong mechanical building services knowledge and practical maintenance experience, who can confidently diagnose faults, work independently and respond effectively to urgent and critical situations. You will also work closely with Estates colleagues, contractors and clinical departments to ensure services remain safe and compliant.
The role includes shift working and participation in emergency out-of-hours cover, with relevant specialist training provided where required. If you enjoy technical problem-solving and want a role where your skills directly support the delivery of patient care, we would love to hear from you.

This is a hands-on and rewarding role for an experienced mechanical professional who wants to use their technical skills in an environment where their work makes a real difference. You will help ensure our hospital's essential engineering services remain safe, reliable and available, supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality patient care.
We are looking for a practical, knowledgeable and proactive problem-solver who can work confidently both independently and as part of a wider Estates team. You will need strong mechanical building services experience, good fault-finding skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and the flexibility to respond when essential services need urgent attention.

Qualifications Essential
Apprentice trained tradesperson with either ONC/BTEC (City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 will be considered) Applicants with appropriate trade qualifications that can demonstrate that they have worked in a similar multi-skilled post may be considered
Desirable
HNC Equivalent in building or relevant engineering building services.
Knowledge Essential
Approved Codes of Practice and current regulations in relation to own discipline
Desirable
Knowledge of Approved Codes of Practice / Health Technical Memoranda in relation to NHS Estate and other disciplines
Experience Essential
Relevant experience within a trade (Mechanical)
Desirable
Previous experience within a Health Service context
