An exciting opportunity is available for experienced Band 5 or Band 6 Registered Nurses to join Rockingham Elective Orthopaedic Ward.

Rockingham is a busy, ring-fenced elective orthopaedic ward with capacity for up to eight trauma patients.

We are looking for an innovative, approachable individual who remains calm under pressure and has excellent interpersonal skills to join our friendly, supportive team. You will need strong workload-prioritisation and staff-management skills, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care from admission through to timely, safe discharge. Ideally, you will have post-registration experience in a surgical setting, excellent communication skills and a desire to develop your own and others clinical practice. This clinical role will support the Band 7 in providing effective leadership, managing the ward and maintaining and improving standards, while supporting multidisciplinary colleagues, patients and their families. Main duties of the job

Support the manager in ensuring service users needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.Provide person-centred care that promotes service users independence and well-being.Maintain high clinical standards when carrying out nursing procedures.Comply with the clinical governance framework, motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity, and drive continuous improvement.Manage the ward each day, ensuring timely discharge planning to optimise bed capacity and maintain effective patient flow across the elective pathway.Screen patients on the trauma ward for suitable transfer to the trauma beds on Rockingham Ward, supporting patient flow through the trauma pathway.Ensure all staff remain compliant with MAST requirements.Support the Ward Manager in completing staff appraisals.Respond appropriately to feedback from staff and patients.Contribute to quality improvement initiativesUndertake Datix investigations and attend formal investigation meetings and provide feedback for staff.Manage the team and maintain a rota with a safe skill mix.Attend divisional QAG and roster meetings when required, and provide report feedback and complete agreed action plans.
