Job summary
The London Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub (BCSP) is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and dynamic Biomedical Scientist to join and support our laboratory team.
The department is accredited by both UKAS and SQAS and delivers the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme across London through the analysis of Faecal Immunochemical Tests (FIT) using state-of-the-art automated technology.
The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, London Programme Hub comprises of four modalities: Laboratory, National Call Centre, Administration, and Print Room.
The successful applicant must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist and hold the IBMS Specialist Portfolio qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
Candidates should have significant experience working within a Clinical Biochemistry or Blood Sciences laboratory and a proven track record of staff supervision. Experience in quality management activities, including quality assurance, audit, and service improvement, is also essential.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), to join the London NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, London Programme Hub, serves a population of over 9 million within London Clinical Commissioning Group and coordinates the activities of up to 8 Screening Centres, for Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT).
We are a fully accredited Laboratory (UKAS ISO 15189:2012) and a department that comprises four modalities: Laboratory, National Call Centre, Administration, and Print Room.
The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist and have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio (Clinical Chemistry) or have equivalent years of experience. Evidence of continual professional development (CPD) will be expected to be demonstrated at interview.
