Job summary
We are seeking a self-motivated Physiotherapy Technical Instructor with an interest in neurological rehabilitation and supporting patients with complex disabilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, relevant experience working with people with disabilities, and strong organisational and time management skills. An understanding of rehabilitation and the ability to work effectively as part of the MDT are key requirements of the job.

Main duties of the job
Department: Band 4 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor
Salary range: £30,124 - £34,732 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Hours of work:37.5 hours per week

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability provides specialist, person-centred services, supporting people with complex neurological disabilities.
Based within our Continuing Care Services, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary ward team, alongside the wider Therapy department, to support the delivery of individualised care and rehabilitation programmes. This varied role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, therapeutic interventions and meaningful leisure activities, including group sessions and community outings, helping to promote independence, social interaction and overall wellbeing.
The RHN is an independent hospital and medical charity. We care for people who have brain injuries and require assessment and intensive rehabilitation for conditions such as Stroke, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury),Huntington's disease etc.

Job description Job responsibilities
Main Objectives of the role
1. Be a full member of the MDT, maintaining a small clinical caseload, as directed by the senior therapist in the designated clinical area.
2. To complete individualised and group therapy programmes independently with the patients/residents as directed by the senior therapists, inclusive of physiotherapy, occupational therapy speech and language therapy, and psychology interventions (not exhaustive)
3. Support the MDT in implementing individualised behaviour management plans, recognising changes associated with cognitive impairment, and accurately documenting behaviours that challenge using tools such as ABC charts.
4. To assist the therapy team as directed by the Clinical Leads or Senior Therapists.
5. Strive to demonstrate proficient organisational skills and time management in all areas of your work and be accepting of support and feedback to promote personal, professional and service wide development.
6. Demonstrate an awareness of RHNs objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.

Person Specification
Person specification: Essential and Desirable Essential
1. Educated to a standard of literacy in English 2. GCSE (or equivalent) in a broad range of subjects. 3. Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care or equivalent 4. Previous experience working with people with complex disabilities in a related AHP Assistant or Technical Instructor role. 5. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), with an understanding of how the role contributes to wider team working. 6. Strong organisational, verbal and written communication skills, alongside competent digital skills. 7. Understanding of professional boundaries, scope of practice and the roles of the wider multidisciplinary team. 8. Ability to learn procedures, follow instructions and work under supervision. 9. Friendly, empathetic and confident, with the ability to work sensitively with residents, relatives and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. 10. Flexible and adaptable, with the physical ability to provide hands-on care and respond appropriately to the needs of others.
Desirable
1. A recognised qualification in a relevant healthcare degree. 2. Experience supporting people with neurological conditions, learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. 3. Supervisory skills and experience with specialist equipment, including wheelchairs, seating and splinting systems. 4. Self-motivated, with evidence of continued learning and ECDL certification or equivalent digital skills. 5. Motivated and committed to continuous professional development, learning and innovation.
