About this role

Job summary

We are looking for Bank Physiotherapists to contribute their skills and experience within a nationally recognised centre of excellence for neurological care. The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability provides specialist, person-centred services across the entire care pathway, from post-acute rehabilitation through to long-term complex care and end-of-life care, supporting people with complex neurological disabilities.

Main duties of the job

Department: Band 6 Bank Physiotherapist

Hourly rate: £24.49 per hour

Location: Putney, Southwest London

This rotational post encompasses both the Brain Injury Services (Level 1a Rehabilitation) and Continuing Care Services, including Respiratory Services, Neurobehavioral Services and the Specialist Nursing Home. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and alongside experienced physiotherapists, you will assess, treat and rehabilitate patients with a wide range of complex neurological conditions and physical needs. You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across a variety of specialist services while delivering an effective, responsive service under the guidance of the Lead Physiotherapist.

The RHN is an independent hospital and medical charity. We care for people who have brain injuries and require assessment and intensive rehabilitation for conditions such as Stroke, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury),Huntington's disease etc.

Main Objectives of the role

1. To provide specialist patient-centred assessment and treatment for a complex neurological clinical caseload as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team

2. To demonstrate awareness of RHNs values and objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.

3. To strive to improve efficiency in all areas of your work.

4. To ensure professionalism and excellent communication with staff, patients and relatives.

Person Specification

Person specification: Essential and Desirable Essential

1.Qualification in Physiotherapy recognised by the Health Care Professions Council 2.Registered member of the HCPC, membership of CSP or own public liability insurance 3.Comprehensive experience of physiotherapy at band 5 level or equivalent level for at least 18 months, with a minimum of 12 months experience in neurology 4.Comprehensive experience of physiotherapy at band 5 level or equivalent level for at least 18 months, with a minimum of 12 months experience in neurology 5.Demonstrate the ability to competently carry out neurological assessment and treatment, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to establish patient-centred SMART goals 6.Ability to prioritise and manage a large caseload, recognising boundaries, and seeking support when appropriate: 7.Evidence of working well in a team 8.Evidence of participation in continued professional development including demonstrating a specific interest in neurological physiotherapy with a good understanding of the need for evidence-based practice and service development 9.Experience of respiratory management, including tracheostomy management 10.Experience of delegation and supervision of physiotherapy support staff and students

Desirable

1. Experience in aquatic therapy, splinting, wheelchair assessment, postural management and spasticity management
