NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Facilities Manager to lead estates and facilities services across our office estate. Based within the Corporate Services directorate, the postholder will help shape workplaces that meet the changing needs of our staff and organisation. This is an opportunity for an experienced facilities professional to bring sound judgement, practical problem-solving and a strong customer focus to a visible role with organisation-wide impact.
Main duties of the job
The role combines strategic planning with hands-on operational delivery. You will coordinate maintenance and improvement programmes, manage facilities contracts, oversee statutory compliance and health and safety requirements, monitor service performance and respond to operational issues as they arise. You will play a key role in ensuring our workplaces remain safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for the needs of a modern, agile workforce.
Working across a broad and varied portfolio, you will lead on facilities-related projects, support sustainability initiatives, manage budgets and supplier relationships, and provide advice and assurance to senior leaders and governance groups. You will help identify opportunities to improve services, deliver value for money and ensure the effective management of organisational risks.
A key aspect of the role is leading the headquarters reception team in Bradford, supporting staff development and ensuring a professional and responsive service for colleagues, visitors and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing strategic and operational priorities, building productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and delivering high-quality outcomes across multiple workstreams..

This role offers the opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio covering estates, facilities, health and safety, sustainability, asset management and workplace services across NHS West Yorkshire ICB. You will work closely with senior leaders, colleagues, landlords and contractors to deliver safe, compliant and effective workplaces. The role combines strategic planning with operational delivery, including facilities contracts, office improvement projects, governance, compliance and sustainability initiatives. You will also lead the headquarters reception team, contribute to organisational projects, manage competing priorities and play a visible role in supporting staff and visitors across the ICB's office estate.

Experience Essential

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to support long-term planning, including identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies. Ability to analyse and interpret information and produce written reports.
Qualifications Essential
Recognised qualification in Estates, Facilities Management, Building Services (for example IWFM) or equivalent demonstrable experience. Proven ability to identify and implement best practice across all aspects of facilities management. Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and health and safety legislation. Practical project and programme management skills. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Proven experience of managing contractors. Experience of leading and managing a team
Desirable
Formal Health and Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH) or willingness to undertake the training. Experience of leading sustainability or energy-efficiency initiatives within an estates or facilities management environment.
