Training Hub Programme Directors - 2 x 0.2 WTE
(2 x THPD posts. Each post is 0.2 WTE ie 2 sessions per week)
Thames Valley Primary Care Training Hub is recruiting to two Training Hub Programme Director (THPD) positions.
THPDs work with and support the Thames Valley Training Hub Associate Dean, Training Hub Lead, Head of Primary Care School & RegionalPrimary Care Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions. Whilst both roles will have responsibilities across the whole of Thames Valley, one of the roles is likely also to focus on liaison with primary care colleagues in Buckinghamshire and the other with colleagues in Berkshire. Current experience working as a GP in these geographies would therefore be beneficial.
THPDs focus upon training capacity expansion, improving learner supervision and experience, and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role also focuses on whole workforce transformation and developing the multi-professional workforce within primary care both at practice and PCN/neighbourhood levels.
As part of the THPD role candidates will need to continue to be on the Performers List and remain active in clinical practice.
NB: Owing to current organisational change processes, both roles are being recruited on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027. We are hopeful that these posts will go on to become substantive following conclusion of current organisational change process.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will support the Associate Dean and Primary Care Dean, and work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will help to deliver an integrated, multi-professional workforce comprising of individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.
The role of Training Hub Programme Director is to support the:
Development of the primary care workforce through the promotion and continuing support for the Primary Care School and Training Hubs programmes and workstreams Transformation of general practice and primary care teams needed to deliver high-quality patient care with best practice, current regulations and service delivery models. In delivering the role, THPDs will work closely with other multi-professional workforce colleagues. Whilst working within the Thames Valley Training Hub the postholder will also support the delivery of the Integrated Care Board's wider objectives, alongside neighbourhood and Primary Care Network workforce strategies.
The THPD will report to the Associate Dean and onto the Head of School and Regional Primary Care Dean.
The postholder will need travel to around the Thames Valley region when attending development days, educator conferences and meetings.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training Essential
A registered GP with a license to practice who is currently working in clinical practice Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (example: educator courses, Train the Trainer, etc.)
Desirable
Higher degree in education/management or working towards such a qualification

Experience and Knowledge Essential
Good current working knowledge of the delivery of primary and community care Thorough knowledge of GP processes that underpin professional development Good understanding of the primary care workforce recruitment, retention and transformation agenda Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of the multi-professional workforce agenda Experience of locating and coordinating educational resources Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education Active involvement in, and up-to-date with, appraisal processes
Desirable
Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education. Experience with working with newly qualified GPs and other NHS professionals and those returning to practice educational programmes. Experience of undertaking careers counselling
