We are looking to recruit a motivated and hard-working individual who not only has an excellent clinical skill set but also the compassion and communication skills to foster efficient relationships to effectively care for the child, young people and their families who are experiencing respiratory conditions.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist service to the children, young people as well as their parents & carers who are suffering with respiratory conditions within the acute trust. Within this post you will work as part of the respiratory Nursing team, supported by a Band 7 Team leader whilst working in collaboration with the Paediatric Respiratory consultant. The post holder will work across the UHCW and Rugby St Cross site.

The post holder will be involved in developing and delivering expert patient-centred care based on local and national guidance. Care delivered will include patient assessment, planning and implementing of specialist care, provision of advice/support and education in collaboration with the wider MDT including child protection/safeguarding teams.

The post holder will be involved in audit and research, assist in leading a small team, participate in network meetings and provide education to medical and nursing staff within the unit in order to improve quality and enhance care delivery.

Job description Job responsibilities

To support/participate and deputise if required in Consultant and Nurse-led clinics working within guidelines agreed by the respiratory care team To develop the knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for respiratory patients in secondary care and using this understanding to improve the individual patients understanding of their respiratory condition and management. Identify their needs; provide education, monitoring and support To act as an advocate for and support the patient and their carers. Be the key worker in co-ordinating the efforts of the multidisciplinary team. Be aware of the key therapies available to these patients and be conversant with their usage ensuring patients and professionals have sufficient knowledge to deliver safe and effective care. Undertake a holistic assessment of patients needs encompassing physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues, including the needs of their family and carers. Qualifications Essential

oCurrent Paediatric Professional Registration - RNC or equivalent oEvidence of continuous professional development, with courses relevant to area of work oDegree level education oStudy at level 6 (degree/ diploma)
