Outpatient Matron for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust is a large teaching hospital based on two sites in the heart of London, caring for people with a range of illnesses. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative leader for our Chelsea site's main Outpatients team who will help support us through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
We are seeking a talented individual with multiple skills and an appetite for delivering a first class nursing service to join our team on the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site at 369 Fulham Road. We are one of the UK's most successful and progressive NHS Foundation Trusts. Working as one of the Outpatient Matrons within the Clinical Support Division, you will oversee the provision of outstanding care and experience for our patients, alongside your colleagues and the senior management team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high quality care and the patient experience across Outpatients through proactive clinical and professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels within their clinical area of responsibility. The post holder will need to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based, compassionate nursing, and that the workforce is managed efficiently and effectively.
The post holder will ensure that sisters and HCAs have adequate support to enable them to focus on their core responsibilities.
The post holder will contribute to the on-going implementation of the Trust's divisional and corporate nursing objectives, developing the service and nursing roles to meet the evolving needs of our patients and their families.
The individual will undertake the key functions of the Matron Role ensuring the patient experience in Outpatients is of the highest possible standard at all times with particular emphasis on the provision of dignified and compassionate care which is delivered in a safe and clean environment.
The post holder will work with CSD's Head of Professions and Senior Management Team in developing and implementing a divisional strategy to achieve the Trust's objectives and ensure that effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for clinical and operational management of the main Outpatients Service at the Chelsea and Westminster site, ensuring the safe and effective day-to-day running of the departments.
They will oversee a large team of healthcare staff; providing leadership and professional development for nursing, support workers, and other multi-disciplinary members within the area.
In conjunction with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager, the post-holder will be responsible for the development of the outpatient service, exploring opportunities to amend and improve models of care (e.g. three session days, development of one-stop services etc).
The post holder will oversee the budget of the Chelsea sites main Outpatients team, and so utilise the nursing workforce, and associated spends on clinical and non-clinical supplies, in a cost-efficient way but so as not to compromise clinical care standards.
They will provide professional advice and support to the whole multidisciplinary team in caring for patients within the outpatient setting.
The post holder will work in partnership with Clinical teams, Managers, and the Outpatients administrative teams to ensure that the service meets the needs of our patients and is responsive to complaints/feedback.
The post holder will lead on the delivery of high quality compassionate care and for further improving the patient experience, through proactive professional leadership. This will include leading on departmental accreditation improvement plans.
The post holder will also provide nursing leadership for implementation and evaluation of all education, training and development of staff. They will develop, implement and evaluate policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of patients attending the department with minor, major and/or life threatening injuries and illness. They will be responsible for the interpretation of and maintaining compliance with Trust policies.
