Position Overview Pay range: $114,710 - $186,405 / year Job Highlights UAB Health System is continuing to transition to Epic as our new electronic health record (EHR) platform across the organization. We have new opportunities available for you to join our Health System Information Services (HSIS) team, where you'll work with more than 400 professionals committed to keeping UAB Medicine’s IT systems and infrastructure secure and running smoothly to deliver quality patient care and support our business operations. Ideal candidates have previous Epic experience and certifications. If you aren’t certified, certification must be obtained within 12 weeks of completing the required Epic training (November 2026) with no more than two testing attempts. Job Description To be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of projects and strategic initiatives within the Epic Analytics and Cogito team. To oversee the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise analytics solutions leveraging the Epic Cogito ecosystem, including Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, SlicerDicer, Cogito Data Warehouse, Caboodle, and Clarity reporting platforms. To lead analytics projects involving operational, clinical, financial, and executive reporting, including dashboards, scorecards, and self-service analytics solutions that support organizational decision-making. To collaborate with operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders to establish reporting priorities, define key performance indicators, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. To manage, mentor, and oversee a team of analytics professionals. To foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement while promoting UAB Medicine best practices in Epic reporting, data governance, and analytics development. To partner with Information Services, clinical leadership, and operational departments to maximize the value of Epic data assets and drive data-informed decision making throughout the health system. Key Duties & Responsibilities 1. Manage the day-to-day operations of an Epic Cogito Analytics team, ensuring timely delivery of reporting, dashboard, and analytics solutions that support clinical, operational, financial, and executive decision-making. 2. Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop Epic analysts and developers through regular one on-one meetings, goal setting, career development planning, performance evaluations, and ongoing feedback. 3. Assign, prioritize, and monitor team workloads, projects, and support activities to ensure resources are effectively aligned with organizational priorities and service level expectations. 4. Oversee the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of analytics solutions within the Epic Cogito ecosystem, including Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito Data Warehouse (CDW), Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, and SlicerDicer. 5. Partner with clinical, operational, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, establish reporting priorities, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and deliver actionable data insights. 6. Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance by establishing and enforcing standards, best practices, documentation requirements, and governance processes for analytics development. 7. Coordinate and manage analytics projects, including scope definition, project planning, status reporting, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. 8. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation, and customer service by promoting best practices in analytics development, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. 9. Performs other duties as needed. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field and eight (8) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data warehousing. Three (3) years of project management experience managing analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or information technology teams. Experience leading complex analytics projects involving clinical, operational, financial, or revenue cycle data. Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting, dashboard, and analytic solutions. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Active/current certification (or accreditation) in Epic Cogito. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of the Epic Cogito suite, including Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito Data Warehouse (CDW), Radar Dashboards, Reporting Workbench, and SlicerDicer. Knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, revenue cycle, quality, regulatory, and population health reporting. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMS quality programs, and healthcare data privacy standards. Knowledge of healthcare performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and benchmarking methodologies. Understanding of agile and waterfall project management principles, resource planning, budgeting, and portfolio management using the DevOps methodology. Knowledge of data visualization best practices and analytic tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent business intelligence platforms. Strong leadership and people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and talent development. Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with executive, clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into reporting and analytics solutions. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong project and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong strategic planning and organizational skills. Data governance and data quality management skills. Requirements gathering, business analysis, and process improvement skills. Ability to lead and develop high-performing analytics teams in both on-site and remote work environments. Ability to prioritize competing requests while balancing operational, strategic, and regulatory needs. Ability to interpret complex healthcare data and provide actionable insights to executive leadership. Ability to oversee large-scale Epic reporting and analytics initiatives from planning through implementation. Ability to identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvement. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and within tight deadlines. Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, financial, and information technology departments.
