Job Title: Factory Supply Chain Manager / Plant Supply Chain ManagerJob DescriptionThe Factory Supply Chain Manager oversees the end-to-end flow of materials throughout a complex, high-volume manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for inbound raw materials, production planning and scheduling, work-in-process (WIP) inventory, inventory accuracy, finished goods, and outbound shipments. The position leads planning and inventory operations while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Transportation, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Plant Leadership. The primary focus is on production planning leadership, SAP utilization, material flow management, inventory control, and driving operational performance in a dynamic plant environment. The role reports to the Plant Director and manages the Production Planning function, including a team of Production Schedulers, serving as a key member of the plant leadership team and a central decision-maker for SAP-driven supply chain operations.Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end material flow management from inbound raw materials through production, WIP, finished goods, and outbound distribution. • Own and direct production planning, master scheduling, and capacity planning to meet demand, optimize throughput, and support on-time delivery. • Manage raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels to ensure accuracy, availability, and alignment with production and demand plans. • Oversee inventory control processes including cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, inventory audits, and physical inventory to maintain high data integrity. • Utilize SAP and other ERP systems to drive production planning, material planning (MRP), inventory management, and warehouse operations. • Lead the Production Planning function, including direct oversight of Production Schedulers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management. • Partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Transportation, HR, and Plant Leadership to support daily shop floor operations and resolve issues in real time. • Drive SAP adoption and optimization following a recent implementation, shaping processes, improving data accuracy, and enabling digital transformation across the plant. • Develop, monitor, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning, inventory accuracy, material flow, and supply chain performance. • Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives focused on material flow, inventory optimization, and production support. • Ensure effective demand planning, supply planning, and forecasting processes to align production schedules with customer requirements and business objectives. • Coordinate warehouse operations, including material staging, production receipts, finished goods distribution, and warehouse management system (WMS) activities. • Support production execution by ensuring timely availability of materials, accurate bills of material, and efficient material movements to and from the production floor. • Champion change management efforts related to SAP implementation, digital transformation, and process manufacturing improvements. • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships and provide leadership across union manufacturing environments, fostering collaboration and engagement on the production floor. • Identify root causes of supply chain, inventory, and scheduling issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. • Contribute to S&OP processes by providing accurate production, inventory, and capacity data and by aligning operational plans with business forecasts. • Ensure compliance with relevant manufacturing standards and practices commonly used in food, beverage, consumer products, packaging, pharmaceutical, and medical device environments. • Act as a visible leader within the plant, regularly present in manufacturing areas to support operational execution and communicate priorities to teams. Essential Skills
• Proven leadership experience in production planning and scheduling within a manufacturing environment. • Hands-on SAP experience, particularly in SAP PP, SAP MM, SAP WM, and SAP EWM modules, with the ability to use the system directly for planning and inventory control. • Strong background in materials management, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory management. • Expertise in MRP and material planning processes to support efficient and reliable production operations. • Demonstrated ability to manage inventory control processes such as cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, inventory audits, and physical inventory. • Experience in process manufacturing and plant operations, with comfort working in a high-volume production environment. • Ability to lead and develop teams, including direct leadership of Production Planners and Schedulers. • Proficiency with ERP systems and manufacturing systems to support production planning, material flow, and warehouse operations. • Strong skills in demand planning, supply planning, forecasting, and S&OP participation. • Capability in logistics management, warehouse operations, and distribution operations, including finished goods distribution and material staging. • Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and KPI development. • Ability to work effectively in a union manufacturing environment and build collaborative relationships on the production floor. • Comfort with shop floor operations and production support, including real-time problem solving and decision-making. • Recent experience with SAP implementation and digital transformation initiatives in a manufacturing setting. • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence and partner across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Transportation, and HR. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in food manufacturing is preferred, though backgrounds in beverage, packaging, consumer products, pharmaceutical, and medical device manufacturing are also valued. • Knowledge of manufacturing standards and audit frameworks such as BRC, SQF, and AIB. • Experience in inventory optimization and material flow design to improve efficiency and reduce waste. • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and production control processes. • Exposure to change management practices, particularly in the context of SAP implementation and digital transformation. • Ability to support and enhance shop floor execution through strong communication and collaboration. • Experience in capacity planning and master scheduling for complex, multi-line manufacturing operations. • experience in finished goods distribution and transportation coordination within a supply chain environment. • Understanding of production receipts, material staging, and production execution workflows. • Experience working within large, established manufacturing organizations with plant leadership structures. • Interest in career growth within manufacturing operations and supply chain leadership roles. Work EnvironmentThe role is based fully onsite at a manufacturing facility in Fairfield, CA. The standard leadership schedule is primarily day shift, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility required to support production schedules and plant operations as needed. The environment is a high-volume, union manufacturing setting where the Supply Chain Manager is expected to be regularly present on the production floor, engaging directly with teams and supporting operational execution in real time. The position is highly collaborative, involving daily interaction with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Transportation, HR, and Plant Leadership. The facility has recently completed a major SAP implementation, providing a modern, digitally enabled operating environment with significant opportunities to shape processes and drive continuous improvement. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Fairfield, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
