Job Title: Forklift Operator Day ShiftJob DescriptionThe Forklift Operator Day Shift works on the receiving dock to safely unload inbound shipments, accurately record inventory using RF scanning equipment, and move materials from staging areas into the warehouse using various types of forklifts. This role is critical to maintaining efficient receiving operations and ensuring products are properly documented and stored for further distribution. Responsibilities • Operate sit-down forklifts to unload shipments from trucks and safely stage pallets for put-away. • Use stand-up reach trucks, preferably Crown brand equipment, to transport skids from staging areas into designated warehouse locations. • Operate cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown) to access and move pallets stored at various heights within the warehouse. • Utilize RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes on wrapped skids and accurately enter shipment data into the warehouse management system. • Ensure all received shipments are properly recorded, labeled, and entered into the warehouse system to maintain accurate inventory records. • Perform loading and unloading of trucks in a fast-paced receiving environment while following all safety procedures. • Inspect forklifts and related equipment before use, report any issues, and follow established safety and maintenance guidelines. • Maintain a clean and organized receiving dock and staging areas to support efficient workflow and reduce safety hazards. • Work collaboratively with dock and warehouse team members to prioritize inbound loads and meet operational timelines. • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards while working in and around trucks, bay doors, and material handling equipment. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of prior forklift experience required; 2 or more years of forklift experience preferred. • Hands-on experience operating stand-up reach forklifts, preferably Crown brand equipment. • Experience operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or receiving environment. • Demonstrated ability to safely load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment. • Proficiency using RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes and record inventory transactions. • Experience entering received shipments into a warehouse management system or similar inventory tracking system. • Ability to work in a high-volume receiving dock environment with multiple bay doors and frequent truck traffic. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when scanning, recording, and staging inbound shipments. • Commitment to following safety procedures while operating forklifts and working in and around trucks and loading docks. • Ability to work 2-2-3 day shift schedule from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience in shipping and receiving functions, including loading and unloading trucks and managing inbound freight. • Familiarity with Crown stand-up reach trucks and cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown) in a warehouse environment. • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled receiving dock, including frequent movement in and out of trucks. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively with team members across the dock and warehouse. • Strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to grow into advanced roles such as lead, office, training, or operations positions. • Willingness to participate in ongoing training to enhance equipment operation skills and warehouse processes. Work EnvironmentThe role is based on a busy receiving dock with approximately 23 bay doors where trucks are regularly jockeyed in for unloading. The area is not climate controlled, and employees frequently move in and out of trucks throughout their shift. The position follows a 2-2-3 day shift schedule from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., working as part of either the A or C team. The environment is fast-paced and focused on safety, efficient material handling, and accurate inventory recording, using sit-down forklifts, stand-up reach trucks (including Crown equipment), cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown), and RF scanning technology. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHAMBERSBURG, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.81 - $20.81/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
